How useful are baby diaper cakes
Today’s parents are a little bit lucky in terms of baby diapers than those of 10 to 15 years ago. Gone are those days, when parents have to wake up every now and then at night times just to change the clothes, beddings and blankets. In the midst of wanting to have a goodnight sleep, to waking up with an irritated baby wiggling while using those pins in diapering. Not to mention incidences of babies being hurt with the pins and worst end up with tetanus.
It is a waste of productive quality time for both the baby and the parent. Some would say that diapering a baby is dreadful; but then, babies need to have a sound sleep for their mental development and surely, you don’t want baby tantrums just because they were disturbed from their sleeps. Leaks slow you down, so you need something reliable.
A lot of baby diapers are available in stores. Cloth diapers and disposable diapers with all those brands being advertise, but which diaper is best? When you are formula-feeding you baby, you may even consume 10 or more diapers a day. So, you may always hear a first-time parent complaining that they end up feeding and diapering most of the times with their baby.
Well, for a first time parent, it may really sound horrible, but it requires a lot of practice before you master it. Nevertheless, a lot of parents said that keeping the baby dry is just a piece of cake already for them. Some babies cry and squirm a lot during diaper change, but talking or even singing to them will actually help.
So what do we have to prepare in changing or placing a diaper on a baby?
First and foremost, have everything ready. Diaper with tapes or fasteners if you are using a cloth diaper, should be at hand (so make sure that your diaper bag is place just within reach). Then you will need a clean container of warm water and cotton balls since the baby have a very sensitive skin.
To prevent rashes, you will need an ointment or petroleum jelly; and finally, have a changing pad for you to place under your baby. All of these should be at hand and within reach, for you cannot stay away from the baby alone (or you will end up looking for your baby already rolling under).
What to do then? First, you have to wipe the baby. So with the cotton balls wet with warm water, just gently wipe the baby from front to back and not from back to front, since the bacteria will spread out and you are risking the baby with urinary tract infection. Lifting the baby’s leg and thigh carefully will help and be easier for you to reach especially the creases of the thighs and buttocks.
Then after wiping, pat your baby dry with clean cotton balls and apply diaper ointment or petroleum jelly. Next, get your diaper and open it or position it under your baby while you left the feet gently. If you are using an adhesive strips, make sure it is about level of the baby’s belly button. Place the penis in a downward position (if it’s a boy) before your fasten the diaper, to prevent leaks from creeping, then if the umbilical cord has not yet fallen, fall down the waistline of the diaper (umbilical cord should be kept dry). Finally, fasten the diaper. After, wash your hands well with water and soap.
There are a lot of newborn baby gifts available worldwide. But the best gift for babies today are baby diaper cakes. A diaper cake is not only beautiful and creative to look at, but is very practical at the same time.
