Many different colleges and vocational schools provide in school and online medical transcriptionist courses. There are different things that you should be aware of when selecting a training program.
Most importantly, you must choose an authorized program. Various schools are not required to provide accredited training courses, which you may need to be certified later on. The Approval Committee for Certificate Programs (ACCP) of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and the American Health Information Management Association both sanction medical transcription training programs. You are able to research these organizations to discover which programs they have certified and training programs will record their accreditation.
It is also a good idea to choose a program that offers you a chance for hands-on training in the form of an internship if this is possible for you. This allows you the opportunity to learn what you will be doing in your new job.
